Current survey data shows a managed services market that's growing in scale but harder to win deal-by-deal. Kaseya's 2026 State of the MSP Report, based on a survey of more than 1,000 managed service providers worldwide, found that winning new customers has become harder, with roughly 71% of MSPs citing customer acquisition as their top challenge. Typical annual customer spending above $25,000 fell sharply, from 75% of MSPs reporting that level in 2025 down to 41% today, even as the overall market keeps expanding.

Security remains the clearest growth lever for both managed service providers and managed security service providers: around 71% of MSPs reported year-over-year revenue growth in cybersecurity, with 50% seeing growth in backup and disaster recovery services. AI adoption is accelerating faster than monetization. 48% of MSP clients are asking for AI-powered services, but only about 13% of MSPs are making meaningful revenue from them yet, a gap that's reshaping how managed IT services providers package and price their offerings.

Talent constraints are also tightening: 16% of MSPs report difficulty hiring skilled technicians, up from 9% the year before. These operational and sentiment trends are a useful companion to the company-level data in this report; the survey data tells you where the market is moving; the MSP data report tells you which specific managed service providers and managed security service providers to target as that shift plays out.

The United States accounts for roughly 43% of all MSPs in our global dataset the single largest concentration by a wide margin, and the reason most channel programs launch there first.

MSSPs represent about 29% of the US MSP population. That ratio is the clearest signal in the dataset of how far security has moved from an add-on to a standalone discipline. It also means nearly a third of the addressable market for security vendors is already operating as a dedicated security practice rather than a general IT provider.

The UK and Ireland punch well above their size. With 15,830 MSPs against a far smaller economy than the US, the UK and Ireland have the highest MSP concentration relative to economy size of any region in this dataset a long-standing pattern in the UK channel.

DACH is about 27% of the European MSP population but has proportionally fewer MSSPs 2,280 against 11,190 MSPs, roughly 20%, compared with 29% in the US. Security specialization in German-speaking markets sits behind the US.

ANZ is the smallest covered region at 6,251 MSPs, but with 2,171 MSSPs it has the highest security specialization ratio of any region here roughly 35%, well above the US at 29% and DACH at 20%.

A company is classified as an MSP if it advertises ongoing managed IT services monitoring, helpdesk, infrastructure or cloud management under contract. It is classified as an MSSP if managed security is a named service line: SOC, MDR, SIEM, threat detection or compliance management. Companies meeting both definitions are tagged as both.

Regional assignment follows company headquarters, not service coverage. A US-headquartered MSP serving UK clients is counted in the US.
